78rpm Records

Welcome graphic

78rpm records are a big part of the Antique Phonograph world. This is the only type of record that will work on a wind up player. We offer 78rpm records and Cylinder records when available, as they are not in production anymore. If you have a wind up player and need records...please check with us!
We do not do title search!! At this low price..we offer a selection of records in a batch of 10 or more that are correct for the wind up period. Our objective is to provide good quality records to people that might not have any at all or would like to add to their library of existing records. Give us a call or send us an email today to ask about our current selection.

78rpm records were made between 1894 and 1960. This is a long time frame..and many of the later type (big band and later) won't work well on a wind up phonograph. The earlier type used a powdered greenstone or limestone in the mixture when they made the record to give it durability to the heavy tone arm and reproducer. Later on, when the electric phonograph came in use, there was no longer a need to use the stone in with the shellac mixture, making it softer. Therefore, people using the Big Band era recordings on a wind up player have problems with the record dragging down to a stop during play. The easiest way to correct this is to get some of the correct earlier records circa 1900-1930 for correct play. We have these records in stock most of the time.

We encourage people to call to see what records we have on hand..and the current price as it varies by condition of the available records. Our usual batch of records to ship is a mix of 10 records that are correct for the wind up period.

Our batch of ten (our choice of titles) is usually priced at 1.50-3.00 each plus shipping depending on titles and quality of the records.
